It's within my grasp

It's not the type of problem where I can ask for help

Not to mention, I'm surrounded by fog
And the lights keep flickering off

Did you want honesty or at least something more clear
Can I make up anything to find it's something else you hear
Never mind the messages you take
I can't be concerned about what's considered fake
I just wanna come up with some jokes
I'm scavenging for material

I'm just a comic with jokes in my pocket
While they're staring at me
If I keep the rule in mind
It's in the rhythm and in the time
Maybe I can keep them laughing

Behind the curtains, I practice impressions
As they're seating the sections
And whether the heads show up or not
these are the jokes I've got
And I might wander off into a story
You might find my routine kinda corny

I'm just a comic with jokes in my pocket
While they're staring at me

Maybe I can keep 'em laughing

If I run out of things to say
Just continue to stare as if nobody's there
But don't catch my sweat, I'll pretend to not care
